All Black Walnut from a large log. Entire chest is made from the same board. Wenge accents. Room enough to accommodate many years of earrings, rings, and bracelets acquisitions. Black walnut case and drawers, wenge accents, ash interior.
Really fantastic material. This is not production-mill, steamed walnut. This is old-school, slow dried from a small mill in SE Pennsylvania. They do a fantastic job with it and have consistently great walnut. Truly beautiful boards.
Three small drawers, one large drawer.
Solid hardwood, handmade jewelry box. This design has been improved and refined since the early 1990s, and has found happy homes throughout the world.
Details include:
~mitered case construction with dovetail splines for strength
~dovetailed solid ash drawer interiors, each drawer individually fitted
~drawers are always consecutive cuts from the same board for consistency
~common species parts are always made from the same board(e.g., walnut case and walnut drawers will always be from the same board)
~solid walnut back
~adjustable solid ash dividers--individual lengths of the divider grid can be removed to create larger spaces
~cotton velvet drawer lining
~all interior parts sealed and finished
~finished with shellac and satin acrylic lacquer
