Most of the pieces on this site are typical samples of what I normally produce and stock. Obviously, it is impossible for a small shop to stock every combination of style, size and species, but I try to stock a selection of pieces for immediate shipment. As the end-of-the-year holiday season approaches each year, I will have more pieces to choose from for immediate delivery. Frequently I have sizes and species which are not represented on the site, as well as the “standard” items shown. I am always looking for unusual boards or new combinations, and often these become “one-of-a-kind” pieces which can’t really be repeated, and I may have an image that I can email to you.

The prices quoted next to each piece are for the piece as described. I am happy to quote prices for variations in wood or design, and, generally, most designs are easily modified.

Delivery Time

I make a group of jewelry chests about six times a year. Orders for pieces not currently in stock require six to ten weeks. Particularly large or complex pieces may require somewhat longer. I operate a small shop and take pride in producing premium work; it is not a factory. Although I make every effort to fill each order as timely as possible, handwork of this quality cannot be rushed. Your patience is appreciated.

Shipping and Sales Tax

Prices do not include shipping, and NYS sales tax is applicable to all orders shipped to a New York address. Shipping for a jewelry chest usually costs $20-25. Orders are shipped through UPS, unless you request otherwise. If you prefer, Federal Express next-day or 2nd-day service is also available. I do not ship any orders through the U.S. Postal Service.

All orders are insured, both in my shop and in transit.

Deposit

Typically I request a 35% deposit for all orders, the balance upon completion. I accept Master Card, Visa and personal checks. If you use a credit card, I charge 35% when you place the order and the balance when I ship the piece. If you pay by check, I request a 35% deposit when you order, and balance before shipping.

Returns

If you purchase a standard jewelry chest, and for any reason it is not to your liking, you may exchange it for another chest that I have available, or towards an order for a specific piece. One-of-a-kind custom pieces are not returnable (see below).

In ten years of doing custom work, I have found that the best pieces result when the customer has a clear concept of the intended function of a piece and gives me a general idea of their aesthetic preferences. From there I can design a piece that both suits them and conforms to structural necessities. The internet is an excellent tool to facilitate the back and forth exchange necessary for such planning. Ideas and images are quickly communicated and easily stored and retrieved for later comparisons.

If you are interested in a custom piece, feel free to contact me with any ideas, photos, or drawings that you may have. The more we have to work with, the quicker and easier it is to arrive at a sound design. When we establish the size and specifications, I can give you a firm quote for no charge. If the cost is acceptable, I will do a scale drawing for a $100 non-refundable deposit, credited towards the quoted cost of the piece.

Please be aware that one-of-a-kind custom pieces are not returnable, so make sure that the specifications that we agree on are exactly correct.
